| The
creation of the Emergency Mobile Shower Unit was
inspired by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita as well as other natural
disasters in the U.S. and was first pressed into service when Hurricane
Ike devastated the Texas-Louisiana coast in September 2008.
While food, water, ice and other emergency supplies
arrive relatively quickly, first responders and victims of disasters
are often desperately in need of a way to clean-up and be refreshed
to meet the challenges they face daily.
That need was evident when the Emergency Mobile
Shower Unit rolled into the fringe of the disaster area on the Texas-Louisiana
border just hours after Hurricane Ike rumbled through. For the next
two weeks hundreds of first responders and victims took advantage
of free showers and a place to revive themselves. We are pleased
to have been able to lend a helping hand to those in need.
